Welsh teenager Harry Robinson has become the latest player to use the HSBC Sevens World Series as a springboard to full 15-a-side international recognition.
The 18-year-old impressed for Paul John's Sevens side in the first three rounds of the current Series in Australia, Dubai and South Africa. In his first start for the team he scored twice to inspire a 21-7 win against England in Australia's Gold Coast and continued in the same vein.
However, he was still a surprise selection in Warren Gatland's 35-man training squad for this year's RBS Six Nations.
Gatland has tipped Robinson for a bright future, even comparing him to one of the game's greats.
"He reminds me of Jason Robinson in the way he darts around," said Gatland. "He has been very impressive in Sevens, which has been an avenue for a few of our players, and he has come on for the Blues and looked sharp.
"He plays with confidence, he is young and we need to be thinking in terms of the back three, which has been an area where we have not had a huge amount of strength over the last couple of seasons. We are looking not just to the immediate future, but at seeing how he will be over next two or three seasons."
In both stature and style, Robinson also bears an uncanny resemblance to the recently-retired Shane Williams. He joins Alex Cuthbert in hopping from the Wales Sevens arena straight to the senior squad.
The news will be bitter-sweet for Sevens coach John, who will miss Robinson's talents at the upcoming fourth and fifth rounds of the Series in Wellingon, New Zealand and Las Vegas, USA.
