Kenya celebrate winning the Shield in Dubai in 2010

New Kenya Sevens head coach Mitch Ocholla has included seven fresh faces in his provisional squad to compete on the HSBC Sevens World Series 2011/12.

Philip Wamae (KCB), Oscar Ayodi (Homeboyz), Michael Wanjala, Adrian Opondo (Strathmore University), Michael Agevi (Mwamba), Kevin Keegan and Nick Barasa (Kenya Harlequin FC) are all named in the squad, captained by Humphrey Kayange.

However, several regulars from recent seasons are not in the line-up, namely Biko Adema, Gibson Weru, Leon Adongo, Brian Nyikuli and Wilson Kopondo.

Of the new players, the name of Michael Agevi catches the eye. Agevi is the youngest brother of Kayange and flyer Collins Injera and makes the cut after showing great form in Kenya's ongoing National Sevens circuit.

Last season Kenya reached three Cup quarter finals on the World Series, eventually finishing in ninth place.

Their best performance came at the USA Sevens in Las Vegas, where they lost against Samoa in the Plate final.

Captain Kayange finished as both top try- and point-scorer with 31 and 157 respectively.
