Samoa Coach Faamoni lalomilo on winning Pool C and reaching the Cup Quarter Finals: "We prepare for this day and I think it is very hard for us, but thankfully we made the Cup quarters for tomorrow. Today has gone though, so we need to prepare for the first match tomorrow. With the preparation for the Olympics all the teams are competitive. Every game is tough now."

Paul Treu, South Africa coach, after his side failed to reach the Cup Quarter Finals: "We don't prepare to go the Bowl, it is a big disappointment. Firstly losing Branco (du Preez) and then our captain, (Kyle Brown) and then to go into the Bowl, we don't work this hard to play on that side of the draw. We have to go out there now and take as many positives as possible and get this over and done with."

New Zealand defeat Argentina 17-7 to win Pool B and confirm their place in the Cup Quarter Finals tomorrow. Argentina will now go into the Bowl.

Setefano Cakau, Fiji captain, on beating Kenya and going unbeaten on day one: "It is a good game, we know that Kenya defend well, but I thank the boys that we worked together and could win the last game this afternoon. I know we have a lot of new boys, but we enjoy our stay and the game so far because we have beaten every team, so we are looking forward for tomorrow's game."

A try to New Zealand's captain DJ Forbes and the All Blacks Sevens now lead 17-7. Argentina's dreams of the Cup Quarter Finals are fading.

But right on half time Kurt Baker sprints away to score his second try of the match and fourth of the tournament. He is now the Tournament's leading tryscorer. New Zealand lead 12 - 7 over Argentina at half time.

France hold on to defeat Australia with tenacious defence 7-0 and go through to the Cup Quarter Finals. The only points in the game came from Steeve Barry's try in just the second minute. FULL TIME: France 7 Australia 0. Now Kenya vs Fiji.

2 minutes to go - France still lead Australia 7-0. But play is deep in the French 22 and Australia have a scrum feed.

A tight match in difficult conditions and France lead Australia 7-0 at half time thanks to Steeve Barry's try. France have seven minutes to hold on to reach the Cup Quarter Finals.

In tomorrow's first match at 9.20am Spain will face USA in the Bowl Quarter Final.

Fire twirlers and a 'rocket man' now entertaining the crowds at the Dubai Sevens. Next up in 15 minutes France play Australia. It's another sudden death clash with a win or a draw enough for Australia to go through to the Cup Quarter Finals while France must win to stay in contention to win the Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens.

Pedro Leal, Portugal Sevens' hero, on reaching the Cup Quarter Finals:

"I am very happy, very proud of the boys. We had a terrible game in Australia, we came here with young guys and we made it (to the Quarter Finals) so we are very pleased.
"Two years ago we beat England too, but we didn't make the Cup Quarters, here we have so we are very very happy."

Now England have a chance after the siren. Dan Bibby makes a break and they seem certain to score but the final pass goes into touch inches from the line. Portugal win 22-21 and go into the Cup Quarter Finals. An amazing performance from Portugal to make it through the Pool of Death and reach the Cup Quarter Finals.

Incredible drama in Dubai. Dan Norton holds back a Portugal attacker chasing a kick and Portugal get a penalty. Pedro Leal coolly slots the penalty from metres out and it's 22-21.

England hit back through a break away from John Brake and Dan Bibby lands the conversion from wide out. Then with just two minutes remaining Dan Norton sprints away to put England in front. Bibby lands the conversion and it's England 21 Portugal 19 with one minute left.

Amazing try to Portugal. England are deep on attack and look certain to score but then the ball comes loose and Duarte Moreira races away for Portugal. Marcus Watson uses incredible speed to catch him but Moreira pushes him off to score. Portugal convert and lead 19-7.

Portugal in again! Great defence sees England shut down in their own 22. The ball comes loose and Portugal pounce. The conversion is good and Portugal lead England 12-7. But on the siren James Rodwell completes a long range try for England and it's 12-7 to Portugal at Half Time.

Now the first of two sudden death deciders in the Pool of Death. Portugal score early through Goncalo Foro and lead England 5-0. The winner of this game goes through to the Cup Quarter Finals with the loser into the Bowl.

Wales complete a 22-5 win over Russia to book their place in the Cup Quarter Finals.

Spain score a late try on the siren through Matias Tudela to defeat Scotland 12-7. This means Scotland finish day one of the Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens with three losses after going down to Kenya(12-5), Fiji (22-14) and now Spain. Full Time: Spain 12 Scotland 7

A superb run from Pedro Martin, who beats at least four Scottish defenders on a weaving run down the left touchline, to score under the posts. Spain and Scotland now tied 7-all with three and a half minutes remaining.

At Half Time Scotland lead Spain 7-0, thanks to a try to Alex Glashan, converted by captain Colin Gregor.

Nanyak Dala, Canada captain, on Nathan Hirayama, who is the Tournament's top scorer on day one with 27 points: "He has probably been on more tours than most. He has a cool calm head, he always steps up to the mark so it is good to have him back. "

Now Spain face Scotland. Both teams have lost their two opening matches against Kenya and Fiji so they'll be keen to bounce back with a win in their final match of day one.

Another try to Phillip Mack for Canada and the Canucks run out winners 26-7 over the USA, confirming their place in the Cup Quarter Finals with two wins and a draw. An impressive first day performance from Canada.

With the rain teeming down Canada put the ball through the hands with silky speed. Then Ciaran Hearn breaks a tackle and races away to score. Canada now lead the USA 19-7 with three minutes to go.

Chauncey O'Toole sells a big dummy and goes in for a try under the posts right on the siren to put Canada up 12-7 at Half Time.

Sean Duke fights his way over outwide and Canada lead the USA 5-0 after three minutes. But a superb flick pass from Matt Hawkins sends Zach Test away on a 60-metre run to score under the posts. The USA now lead Canada 7-5. Rain falling steadily.

Rain pouring down and over the loudspeakers a fitting tune: "It's raining men".

After two hard fought Women's Sevens matches we're now ready for Canada vs USA, kicking off in less than 5 minutes!

On the stroke of Half Time Samoa score through Afa Aiono, his second try of the Tournament, and England lead 12-10.

A try to Tom Mitchell and a conversion to Dan Bibby sees England leading Samoa 7-5 after four minutes.

Stunning! A try after the siren to Aderito Esteves and Portugal have beaten South Africa 12-10 in a major boil over. Pool C is now wide open and will go right down to the wire. FULL TIME: Portugal 12 - South Africa 10.

But Wales hold on to defeat Argentina 14-7 and now Pool B is delicately poised with Wales and Argentina both on 4 points behind pool leaders New Zealand on 6 points. A win for Wales in their last match over Russia will see them in to the Cup Quarter Finals. While Argentina will now have to beat the powerful All Blacks Sevens if they are to have any chance of reaching the Cup Quarter Finals. FULL TIME: Wales 14 - Argentina 7

A try to Juan Ignacio Brex for the Pumas, brilliantly converted by Gaston Revol sees Argentina back to 14-7 with thirty seconds to play.

Tries for James Davies and Will Thomas put Wales out to a 14-0 lead over Argentina at Half Time in this crucial Pool B clash.

Now up - Wales vs Argentina - a repeat of the Rugby World Cup Sevens Final in 2009 here in Dubai. And Richie Pugh played for Wales in that match. Wales need to win to keep their Cup Quarter Final hopes alive after losing to New Zealand 14-7 in their first match.

But just when an upset threatens, New Zealand , as they always do, show their class with Tomasi Cama and Milford Keresoma racing away for two late tries. New Zealand run out winners 31-14 but a great effort from Russia against the 2011-12 HSBC Sevens World Series champions.

Kenya hold on to win 10-7 over Spain and book their place in the Cup Quarter Finals from Pool A along with Fiji. FULL TIME: Kenya 10 Spain 7

A superb run by Willy Ambaka but he loses the ball over the line! Still Kenya 10 - Spain 7. Seconds left.

Spain hit back through a try and a conversion to Ignacio Martin but just when it's needed Kenya conjure up a magnificent 80 metre 5-pointer, finished off by Sidney Ashioya. The conversion is missed and the match is still on a knife edge - Kenya 10 Spain 7.

Some superb defence from Spain is finally broken by a long range try to the Kenyan try scoring machine - Collins Injera. His third try of the Tournament. The conversion is missed and it's 5-0 to Kenya and Half Time. But Kenya have had all the ball in the first half and Spain have done extremely well to trail by only a try.

Perfect day for Rugby now. Dry and cool. And the teams are warming to the conditions - playing some entertaining Sevens Rugby.

Now the Twitter favourites Kenya run out to take on Spain.

Scotland hit back through a great try to Darren Gillespie, set up by his captain Colin Gregor. Gregor then sets up another try to James Johnstone and briefly Scotland have a chance at victory, trailing just 17-14. But a late try to Levani Botia gets Fiji home 22-14. FULL TIME: Fiji 22 Scotland 14

Up now we get our second chance to see Fiji who start with two tries to put themselves up 10-0 over Scotland with four minutes gone in the first half.

Australia lead by 28-14 but two tries to Canada in the last two minutes, the first to Jeffrey Hassler and the second on the siren to Justin Douglas, see the Canucks grab a thrilling 28-28 draw. Canada and Australia now have one draw and one win and Pool D is wide open with each team having one game remaining. FULL TIME: Canada 28 Australia 28

Another try to Australia, to Pama Fou, puts the young Australian team out to a 28-14 lead and a probable spot in the Cup Quarter Finals.

A superb sixty metre try by Cameron Clark, followed by a conversion from near the touch line, sees Australia and Canada all locked up at 14-all. But seconds later another try to Australia through an intercept to Peter Lee, his second try of the Tournament, puts Australia out to a 21-14 lead.

Nathan Hirayama scores his third try of the Tournament as the dangerous Canada lead Australia 7-0 after three minutes. Hirayama also landed the conversion, his first of the Tournament.

A try to the quickest man in the Tournament, USA flyer Carlin Isles, but France lead 17-14 with just seconds to play. They hold off some late pressure to record a tough victory and keep alive their dreams of the Cup Quarter Finals. Full Time: France 17 - USA 14. Next up: Australia vs Canada

French talisman Terry Bouhraoua pops up with a crucial try after a superb kick and regather to put France ahead 12-7. Great to see from the little French dynamo as he had a quiet first match.

Determined defence from France is eventually broken and a try on the siren to Shalom Suniula sees the USA lead France 7-5 at Half Time in this crucial Pool D clash.

France get off to a flying start with Manoel Dall Igna crossing for a try. France now lead 5-0 over the USA in this must win match.

After two impressive Women's Sevens matches we are now set to re-commence in the Men's Tournament with France against the USA in five minutes! Standby for kick off.

Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins, who is here at the Dubai Sevens supporting the Joining Jack legends team: "It is brilliant and a great set up. A good laugh, good to see some of the legends out there. It is quick, and a great spectator sport. Anything that goes in to the Olympics it increases numbers and popularity naturally. "

We now have a break with action to return in 45 minutes with two first up losers - France and USA - hoping to bounce back. Womens Sevens are now on the main stadium with England vs South Africa.

Paul Delport, Blitz Bokke, after 19-10 victory against England:  "Two years ago you wouldn't think of playing a quality team like England first on day one. Just glad to get through it. There are 10 teams that could win a tournament and we just take it one game at a time, and any win is a win."

Another try to Lio Lolo from Samoa, his third try of the match, and Samoa have stolen this game from a brilliant and resilient Portugal team - Samoa 24 Portugal 19. Great match!

Another try to Portugal to Pedro Leal and Portugal and Samoa are now lock 19-19 in a thrilling match! Two minutes to play. If Portugal win this it will be a massive upset!

Lio Lolo scores another try direct from a kick off and after falling behind Samoa now lead Portugal 19-12 at Half Time.

And now another try to Portugal through Francisco Vieira Almeida and Portugal are surprise leaders 12-7 against the heavily favoured Samoans.

The try of the tournament to Samoa after just 12 seconds against Portugal! The kick off was regathered on the full by Afa Aiono and then slipped inside to Lio Lolo who scores next to the posts. The conversion is good and Samoa lead 7-0. But Portugal hit back with a try of their own and it's 7-5 after just three minutes.

England are pushing for the winning try but a turnover sees Stephan Dippenaar run 60 metres to score the deciding try under the posts for South Africa. The Blitzbokke run out winners 19-10. Great match and England were unlucky to lose. A courageous performance by the under-strength All Whites.

A fantastic first half in the best match of the day so far. Thrilling Rugby from both teams as the sun comes out. Paul Delport goes over for a late try on the siren and the conversion sees South Africa lead a 5-man England 12-5 at Half Time.

But England race away to hit back immediately through a try to Tom Powell and it brings the biggest cheer of the day from the crowd favourites. The conversion is missed and it's 5-5!

South Africa have had all the ball and finally the pressure tells with Chris Dry bursting through for a try. The Blitzbokke lead England 5-0 after 4 minutes.

Now in action - South Africa vs England. South Africa are already missing Branco du Preez and Cecil Afrika through injury and now Kyle Brown is down injured. He's being carried off on a stretcher and it looks like he's out for the Tournament. A major blow for the Blitzbokke.

A strong run from Francisco Merello and he busts two tackles to race away to score the winning try for Argentina. The Pumas win 17-10 over a committed and skilful Russian team who will trouble teams later in the Tournament.

Another try to Russia scored by Vladislav Lazarenko. Conversion is missed but it's 10-10 with 2 minutes to play between Russia and Argentina.

Good pressure from Russia sees a scrum metres out from the Argentina line. Russia are boasting three of their stars from Rugby World Cup 2011 - Victor Gresev, Denis Simplikevich and Vladimir Ostroushko.

A well taken try to Russian flyer Denis Simplikevich sees Russia tie scores up 5-5 with Argentina but a try on the siren for Argentina to Ramiro Moyano sees Argentina lead 10-5 at Half Time.

In dreadful conditions with the rain pouring down New Zealand showed their class to overcome an early Ifan Evans try for Wales to score a 14-7 victory thanks to second half tries to Tomasi Cama and Kurt Baker.

Neat work from the All Blacks Sevens with good lead up play from Tim Mikkelson setting up Tomasi Cama for a try. Cama converts from wide out and New Zealand now lead Wales 14-7.
