Tausa Faamaoni Lalomilo, coach of Samoa, on winning the Emirates Airlines Dubai Rugby Sevens: "It’s amazing and I’m very happy today. I took off my hat yesterday to the boys and I hope we keep this for next week."
"We give this win to our people back home and also for the young fellows we brought in in preparation for the Olympics in Brazil in 2016."
Afa Aiono, Samoa captain, on winning the Emirates Airlines Dubai Rugby Sevens: "We are really proud of what the boys did today. They did a really good job and achieved what we were aiming for and won their first ever cup in Dubai."
"It was touch and go. New Zealand are a pretty good team but our boys stepped up and played their hearts out."
New Zealand lead the standings in the HSBC Sevens World Series on 38 points with Fiji, Kenya and Samoa tied in second place on 32 points. France are fifth on 27 points with South Africa sixth on 24 points.

Samoa are presented with the HSBC Sevens World Series trophy as confetti and fireworks rains down from the Dubai night sky. Amazing scenes at The 7evens. Samoa are in seventh heaven.
Samoa started strongly, scoring two tries in the first four minutes, and although New Zealand came back in the second half they couldn't make up the gap.

A bank of lights has gone out here in Dubai but play goes on. And Tulolo Tulolo kicks ahead and beats Tomasi Cama in a race to the ball. Patrick Faapale converts again and Samoa lead 26-15 with just two minutes left.
It's Kurt Baker's sixth try of the tournament and he is now equal top tryscorer with Collins Injera of Kenya and Dan Norton of England.
After sustained pressure Kurt Baker scores and New Zealand now trail 19-15.

But then as the siren sounds New Zealand captain D J Forbes inspires his team with an extraordinary run down the right touchline to score. Samoa lead 19-10 at half time but it's anyone's game.

Now we stand by for the big one - Samoa vs the All Blacks Sevens in the final of the 2012 Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens. The news has come through that the All Blacks have lost to England at Twickenham. Is that a bad sign for the All Blacks Sevens?
France bounce back with a try to the little dynamo Terry Bouhraoua but Collins Injera boots it in to touch and Kenya have beaten France 15-12 to finish third in the 2012 Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens. A great result for Kenya.
Oscar Ouma scores a third for Kenya and they now lead 15-7. Kenya look set to finish one place better than the Gold Coast.
Great work down the short side and Horace Otieno's goes in for another try to Kenya. They lead France 10-7 at half time in the third place play off.
That's Collins Injera's sixth try and he is now equal top tryscorer in the tournament with Dan Norton from England.
Good pressure from Kenya and they have a scrum five metres out. The ball comes back and Collins Injera sprints down the left touchline to score. France now lead 7-5.

France get on the scoreboard through a try to Julien Candelon and they lead 7-0 after three minutes against Kenya.
A stunning Women's Final won by New Zealand 41-0 and now we stand by for the Third Place Play-Off between Kenya and France.
Rhys Shellard, Wales captain, on the Red Dragons winning the Plate in Dubai: "It was tough to be honest, we know Canada are a good team. They have beaten some good teams this weekend, so we knew it would be tough, but we came through."

A penalty to Wales and they have just 30 seconds to hold on and the Plate is theirs.
Amazing try to Canada finished off by Harry Jones and Nathan Hirayama converts. Canada back to 21-14 with ninety seconds left.

Ben Ryan, England coach, on winning the Shield: "It was the Shield, so you can hardly regard it as a final. That is an understatement (that it was a difficult tournament). Swing Low Sweet Chariot sounds out around The 7evens. The Shield is not the trophy England were after but following a slow start they came good to beat Australia and Spain in their last two games and at least take home some silverware.
Tom Powell goes over outwide and England have this one wrapped up. Less than a minute to go and they lead 19-5. The conversion is missed but England score another try after the siren to John Brake. This time the conversion is good and England win the Shield 26-5.

After the siren Collins Injera races away to score a consolation try, his fifth of the Tournament, but New Zealand run out winners 27-7. So our Cup final is decided - Samoa will play New Zealand for the crown at the 2012 Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens.
Scott Curry gets his second after a pass from D J Forbes and it's 27-0. This is disappointing for Kenya who would have been hopeful before the match.

Kenya go close but a great tackle by Tim Mikkelson saves the try. Moments later Mikkelson puts Tomasi Cama away at the other end and New Zealand now lead 5-0.

Brett Gosper, IRB CEO, on the Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens: "It is the first Sevens tournament I have been to since I started. I heard this was a great tournament - it gives you a good overview of what the good Sevens tournaments are. I have been hugely impressed by the atmosphere, the organization, the number of people. You cannot not be impressed."

After the heroics of Day One, where they beat both England and South Africa in heart-stoppers, Portugal ran out of gas on Day Two, losing to New Zealand 28-7 and then Canada 28-12. Canada now go through to the Plate Final where they will play Wales while Portugal can look forward to the next Tournament in Port Elizabeth.
Sean Duke forces his way over for a well worked Canada try. Nathan Hirayama converts again and the Canucks are on the way to the Plate Final where they will meet Wales. Canada 28 Portugal 12.
Nathan Hirayama goes over for Canada to give them some breathing space at the start of the second half. It's Hirayama's second try of the match and he's now the tournament's leading point scorer with 45 points. Canada lead 21-12.
Portugal hit back through a converted try to Frederico Oliveira and they trail 14-7. And then on the siren Duarte Moreira bursts through for Portugal and it's 14-12 to Canada at the break.

And an error to Portugal sees Ciaran Hearn toe the ball through and Canada score again. Nathan Hirayama lands another conversion and Canada lead 14-0 after just 4 minutes.
Now it's Canada vs Portugal in the second Plate semi-final and Nathan Hirayama continues his good form at the Tournament scoring the first try and converting it from the touchline. Canada lead Portugal 7-0.

A final try to Wales through Will Thomas sees the Red Dragons pull off a stunning 27-5 victory over Fiji. Wales now go through to the Plate Final where they will face the winner of Canada vs Portugal. For Fiji it's a disappointing end to the tournament, losing both matches on Day Two after being undefeated on Day One.
This time Rhys Jones turns provider with a superb long pass to put Alex Webber over in the corner and Wales have clinched this match leading 22-5 with less than a minute remaining.

Rhys Jones scored all of Wales 17 points in the first half aginst Fiji with three tries and a conversion.

Scotland have a chance right on half time but Argentina hold on. At half time in the second Bowl semi-final Argentina lead Scotland 12-0.
Australian coach Mic O'Connor on his team's disappointing results in Dubai : "We started okay but we just ran out of steam, just mentally between the ears. I made a coaching error, we were 28-14 up against Canada. I emptied my bench with two minutes to go and we drew 28-28 which cost us a spot in the Cup quarters."
Now it's the second Bowl semi-final - Argentina vs Scotland. The Pumas start with a try to Matias Moroni and now Facundo Panceyra Garrido goes over for Argentina's second. They lead Scotland 12-0, with two minutes left in the first half.
Stephen Dippenaar cuts through for South Africa and the BlitzBokke have edged it against the USA 22-14. South Africa will now face the winner of Scotland and Argentina in the Bowl final.
But as soon as you say that Carlin Isles sprints away to score under the posts for the USA. 15-14 with a minute left!
USA put on the pressure but Tshotsho Mbovane chases through a Frankie Horne kick and falls on the ball to score what should be the winning try. South Africa lead 15-7.
Colin Hawley forces his way over for the USA, his third try of the Tournament. The conversion is good and the USA trail by 10-7. Four minutes left.
Mike Friday, Kenya coach, on his team reaching their second successive Cup semi-final: "You never get used to them, you can never have enough of them. I have to take my hat off to the boys, five minutes we defended in our 22 and four times we held them up on the line. That is testament to their belief and their desire and also their appreciation to believe in the systems that are there and go out and execute one on one."
And now Hendricks strides over for his second. USA attack but South Africa hold them out and at half time it's the BlitzBokke leading the USA 10-0.
Cornal Hendricks goes over for South Africa and they lead 5-0. It's been a quiet Tournament for Hendricks and he'll be pleased to get that try.
Now it's the BlitzBokke vs USA in the Shield semi-final.

Next year's Rugby World Cup Sevens hosts Russia take a 12-0 lead against Spain thanks to a try in the corner from Dmitriy Perov.
Denis Simplikevich scores his fifth try for Russia, making him the joint top try scorer this weekend with New Zelaand's Kurt Baker. Russia lead Spain 7-0 in the first Shield semi final
And another try to England for Jeff Williams and the All Whites are running away with this 26-5. The England fans are wondering where this form was earlier in the Tournament.
Next up it's the first semi-final of the Shield - Spain vs Russia.
New Zealand go in for a late try to Sherwin Stowers and they have wrapped this Cup quarter final up 28-7 over Portugal. New Zealand will now face Kenya in the second Cup semi-final, a repeat of the semi-final on the Gold Coast. While Portugal will face Canada in the Plate semi-final.
The Cup semi-finals are now confirmed:
5.07pm (Dubai time): France vs Samoa
5.29pm (Dubai time): Kenya vs New Zealand
The Plate semi-finals are:
1.50pm (Dubai time): Fiji vs Wales
2.12pm (Dubai time): Canada vs Portugal
Another try to New Zealand to Tomasi Cama, his second of the match and fourth of the Tournament, and New Zealand now lead Portugal 21-7.
Kurt Baker from New Zealand is now the Tournament's leading tryscorer with five tries.
But the All Blacks Sevens hit back with tries to Tomasi Cama and Kurt Baker. They lead Portugal 14-7 at half time.
And Portugal start with a try to Diogo Miranda. The conversion is good and Portugal lead the All Blacks Sevens 7-0!

Kenya will now play the winner of New Zealand and Portugal in the Cup semi-finals while Canada will play the loser of that match in the Plate semi-finals. Now it's giant killers Portugal vs New Zealand.

It's Injera's fourth try of Tournament and he's now equal top tryscorer. Canada need a try with less than ninety seconds left.
Collins Injera turns it around with the play of the day. Canada look set to score but Injera blocks the kick through. He regathers and then sprints 75 metres up field to score his fourth try of the Tournament! Conversion is good and Kenya lead 14-7.
Kenya start the second half brilliantly. They turn the ball over in the Canada 22 and Oscar Ouma forces his way over. Canada 7 Kenya 7 with five minutes to go.

More maginificent defence from Kenya and Canada still can't score although they have been camped in Kenya's 22 for the whole first half. But finally the Kenyan line is breached and Sean Duke scores outwide. The conversion is good for Nathan Hirayama and Canada lead 7-0 at half time.

A try to Patrick Faapale for Samoa and Samoa clinch a hard fought 19-7 victory over Wales. Samoa will now face France in the Cup semi-finals while Wales will face Fiji in the Plate semi-finals. Now it's Canada vs Kenya in the 3rd Cup quarter final.

Fiji were lethargic but France played a superb tactical match, keeping the ball for long periods and just not giving Fiji a chance. France's line outs and break down work were superb and Fiji had no answer. Vive la France! Now it's Samoa vs Wales in the second Cup quarter final.
