Seven of the best tries from Series opener

We picked seven of the best tries from the first round of the HSBC Sevens World Series in Australia and asked you, the fans, to vote for your favourite.

Following an action-packed two days which saw New Zealand concede just 24 points in claiming the first title of the season at the Gold Coast Sevens, we selected these these seven tries as contenders for the first 'fans' favourite try' of the season, from which Collins Injera's effort was voted as the best.

All you had to do was head over to either Facebook, where you voted in the comments box of the video itself, or to Twitter where you used the hashtag #FansFaveTry to nominate your favourite.

Last year, Joji Raqamate's try was the winner from the Gold Coast, but this year it was the Kenyan's try against Tonga that was selected. Injera scored three tries in Australia and in doing so moved into fourth in the all-time leading try scorers list.

The contenders

Each of the nine individual fans' favourite tries of the year will go into a fans' vote for an overall 'fans' favourite try' of the season at the end of the season. The first-ever winner of this award was Pedro Leal, who's try against Samoa at the 2012 Dubai Sevens received the most votes.
