Glasgow 7s Pool D: De luca joins hosts
Stephen Gemmell has brought in two seasoned Scotland internationals to his Sevens squad for the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s this weekend (3-4 May).
Nick De Luca, capped 41 times for Scotland, will win his first HSBC Sevens World Series cap since Hong Kong in 2006, while Richie Vernon, capped 20 times for the national team, comes in for the first time since San Diego in 2009.
“Bringing in two players of the international quality of Nick [De Luca] and Richie [Vernon] gives me an opportunity to help us continue to strive for improved consistency in the World Series and to look at my options for the Commonwealth Games, particularly with that team announcement approaching in May," said Gemmell.
Also returning to the squad for the first time since the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow last summer is Colin Shaw.

Michael O’Connor has named his 12-man squad that will travel to Glasgow for the penultimate leg of the 2013/14 HSBC Sevens World Series next week.
O’Connor, who will leave his post as Australia Sevens coach at the end of the season, makes one change to the squad that played in Hong Kong with Lausii Taliauli replacing the injured Alex Gibbon set to make his debut.
Ed Jenkins will continue as captain of the side while Tom Cusack, Lewis Holland, Allan Fa’alava’lau, Pama Fou and Shannon Walker are unavailable due to injury.
“The final two legs of the series gives us the chance to continue our improvement this year," said O'Connor.
"We had our best result in Hong Kong in a decade and the team are fit and motivated to improve even more in Glasgow and ultimately go on to win a tournament.”
