 Unbeaten quartet through to Dubai quarters

New Zealand, Fiji, South Africa and Wales each won all three of their pool matches to progress with 100% records to the Cup quarter-finals at the Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens, round two of the HSBC Sevens World Series.

The in-form quartet are joined in the last eight of the Cup by Scotland, England, Kenya and Argentina, while defending champions Samoa will contest the bowl on Saturday.

Gold Coast winners and current Series leaders New Zealand scored 112 points and conceded just five in beating France, Portugal and Kenya and next face Argentina. South Africa will come up against their former coach Paul Treu and his Kenyan side. Ben Ryan's Fiji beat England and will next meet Scotland, while Simon Amor's England will come up against neighbours Wales.

DAY ONE HIGHLIGHTS

In the Bowl, Canada await Spain after finishing third in Pool C thanks to a 41-7 victory over the USA with Harry Jones scoring a hat-trick, Portugal face Russia, Australia await the USA and France will play Samoa. 

Keep Rugby Clean Day in Dubai

The International Rugby Board announced USA Rugby star Carlin Isles as a new IRB Anti-Doping ambassador on 'Keep Rugby Clean Day' in Dubai.

To mark their support for the IRB's ongoing awareness and educational campaign, all 28 of the men's and women's international teams competing today in Dubai warmed up for their matches sporting red 'Keep Rugby Clean' T-Shirts.
