Argentina Sevens aim for the top in Dubai
Can Argentina better their fourth position from 2011 this year?

Argentina captain Nicolas Bruzzone wants his side at the top of the pile at the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens this weekend.

Having won the Plate final at the opening round of the HSBC Sevens World Series on Australia's Gold Coast, Bruzzone has targeted improvement, but admits his side have a tough pool to contend with before they think about the Cup competition.

“We have a tough group, but we hope to beat them and be the best,” Bruzzone said at the world's tallest structure, the Burj Khalifa.

“Every team in the 16 is working hard to be the best, but you have to look at Fiji, New Zealand, South Africa and also England as being dangerous.

“We were pleased with how it went on the Gold Coast, but we think we can do better and we don’t want to rest on that.

“We started in the right way, but we have to improve that position and keep growing in Dubai. We have worked hard getting ready for this tournament.

“Getting better is the only thing in our minds, that and enjoying the game.”

Argentina finished fourth at the 2011 Dubai Sevens and hold fond memories having finished second at the 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens at the same venue.

That feel-good factor could play into Los Pumas' hands come the weekend, especially when they face an opening match against next year's RWC Sevens hosts Russia, a second match versus their 2009 conquerors Wales, before an enthralling final match with current World Series champions New Zealand.

“This is my sixth time playing in Dubai and is great to be here again," added Bruzzone.

“We all love coming to Dubai. We seem to do well here which is good for us.

“We enjoy every minute of it, it is great for us, we feel good. Travelling to other places is different, but Dubai it is always good for us. How they treat us is excellent in every way and we enjoy that.”

Tickets to this year’s Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens are still available at www.dubairugby7s.com and from selected Costa and MMI outlets, Virgin Megastores, Emirates Group Headquarters, dnata offices and at 7he Sevens.
