
The IRB's Game Analysis report has been published from the opening three rounds of the HSBC Sevens World Series in Australia (Gold Coast), Dubai and South Africa (Port Elizabeth).
Those three tournaments were won respectively by Fiji, England and New Zealand, but the findings of the report are far-reaching.
The report comprises a quantitative analysis of all elements of play, together with the approach and performance of all participating teams in various aspects of the game.

Overall there was a try scored every 75 seconds of play. Fiji had the best try-scoring rate, scoring a try every 48 seconds, while New Zealand had the meanest try-conceding rate, conceding a try every 130 seconds.
In all there were 759 tries scored at an average of 5.6 per match. New Zealand averaged 4.3 tries scored per match and averaged just 1.6 tries conceded per match.
During pool stage there were 428 tries scored (average of 5.9 per match) while the knockout stages produced 331 at an average of 5.3.
