This season a new mini-series entitled Sevens Uncovered is setting out to answer this crucial question by seeking the views of the leading protagonists - both players and coaches - in the shortened version of the Game.
So far in this HSBC Sevens World Series season we have looked at the role played by today's increasingly specialist Sevens coaches, the playmaker/sweeper in Sevens and the flyers out wide who so often grab the headlines.
Over the next few weeks, ahead of rounds four and five of the World Series in New Zealand and USA, we will investigate the importance of the Top Gun aerial re-start specialist and the Jackal - those crucial breakdown experts.
